Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has described the relationship between Morocco and Spain as “one of the strongest in the world,” highlighting the depth and strategic importance of the partnership between the two neighboring nations.
In an interview with the Spanish daily El Periódico, the Spanish foreign minister offered a highly positive assessment of bilateral cooperation, stating that relations between Rabat and Madrid are currently experiencing their “best historical moment.”
Record Trade Volume Reaches €21 Billion
Albares emphasized the remarkable growth in economic ties, revealing that bilateral trade between Morocco and Spain has reached a record €21 billion. This milestone reflects the accelerating momentum of commercial exchanges and confirms Spain’s position as one of Morocco’s leading trading partners.
The surge in trade underscores the strength of economic cooperation between the two kingdoms, driven by expanding investments, industrial collaboration, and cross-border business development.
Exemplary Security and Migration Cooperation
On the security front, the Spanish minister praised what he described as “exemplary cooperation” between Moroccan and Spanish authorities in police and judicial matters. He stressed that this close coordination plays a decisive role in effectively managing irregular migration flows and strengthening regional stability.
The reinforced collaboration in security, migration management, and counter-terrorism continues to serve as a cornerstone of the Morocco–Spain strategic partnership.
