Morocco reinforced its commitment to digital transformation this week as Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni took part in the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20.
Organized by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the IndiaAI Mission, the summit brought together more than 100 national delegations, alongside global technology leaders and policymakers, to discuss the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and its real-world impact.
Focus on AI Implementation and Public Sector Innovation
Unlike previous international forums centered primarily on AI regulation, the 2026 New Delhi summit emphasized practical implementation. Discussions focused on how AI is transforming public services, infrastructure, governance, and key economic sectors.
Throughout the four-day event, Seghrouchni participated in plenary sessions and high-level working groups addressing:
- Global AI trends and innovation strategies
- Integration of AI into public administration
- Digital infrastructure development
- AI-driven economic growth in emerging markets
The summit underscored a shift from theoretical frameworks toward measurable impact, highlighting how governments are deploying AI solutions on the ground.
Strengthening Morocco–India Digital Cooperation
Accompanied by Mohammed Maliki, Morocco’s Ambassador to India, Seghrouchni held bilateral talks with international officials and technology experts. Discussions centered on digital innovation, artificial intelligence governance, and expanding cooperation in emerging technologies.
Her participation reflects Morocco’s growing engagement in global digital diplomacy and its ambition to position itself as a regional technology hub.
AI has increasingly become a central theme in international relations, particularly for countries in the Global South seeking improved access to technology, capacity building, and knowledge transfer. The New Delhi summit provided a platform for advancing South-South collaboration and inclusive AI development.
Morocco Approves AI Summit Declaration
The diplomatic momentum continued in Rabat, where Sanjay Rana, India’s Ambassador to Morocco, described the summit as the beginning of a new phase in Morocco–India cooperation in AI and digital technologies.
According to Maroc Diplomatique, Rana confirmed that Morocco approved the summit declaration, which emphasizes:
- Transparency in AI governance
- Inclusive and responsible AI systems
- Strengthened South-South cooperation
“India and Morocco will establish a very solid partnership in artificial intelligence and information and communication technologies,” Rana stated.
Indian Tech Investment Expands in Morocco
The ambassador also outlined promising investment prospects in Morocco’s growing tech sector.
Tata Consultancy Services is considering the establishment of a development center in Morocco, signaling confidence in the country’s digital ecosystem.
Meanwhile, HCLTech, which opened a center in Morocco three years ago, has expanded its workforce from 200 to 500 Moroccan IT professionals.
In addition, several Indian firms are exploring opportunities in:
- Data centers
- Digital infrastructure
- Green-powered technology projects
Morocco’s progress in renewable energy and governance reform has strengthened its attractiveness as a destination for digital investment.
Upcoming 11th India-Africa ICT Expo in Casablanca
Further deepening ties, the 11th India-Africa ICT Expo will take place in Casablanca on March 27 and 28. The event will gather Indian, Moroccan, and African companies specializing in digital technologies, fostering new partnerships across the continent.
Morocco Positions Itself in Global AI Governance
Seghrouchni’s participation in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 signals Morocco’s strategic positioning within the global AI conversation. By focusing on implementation, international cooperation, and inclusive digital growth, Morocco is reinforcing its role in shaping AI-driven governance and economic policy across Africa and the Global South.
As AI continues to redefine public administration and economic competitiveness, Morocco’s expanding collaboration with India marks a significant step toward deeper technological partnership and innovation-led development
